Thanks Living

Dean: Tim Becker & Paula Becker
Check-in: July 12 @ 7:00pm
Parent Pick-up: July 13 @ 4:00pm

We all stay very busy.  Busyness just seems to be a way of life.  This overnight experience is designed specifically for a parent and child (or grandparent and grandchild) to spend intentional time together.  You and your child are sure to make lasting memories as you experience camp together enjoying worship, campfire, Biblical teaching, a craft, and many camp activities.  We will explore the idea of Thanks Living: living with an attitude of thankfulness all the time.

About the Deans

Tim Becker

Where are you involved at church?
I have attended Parkside Christian Church since 1991 and I serve as a Student Ministry Volunteer.
What is your favorite Bible verse?
“Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.” (Proverbs 3:5-6.)
What does camp ministry mean to you?
I attended Woodland Lakes as a camper as an elementary and junior high student.  It is a privilege to have served on staff at WLCC since 2005.  I love camp ministry because it is a great opportunity for campers and guests to get away from the normal routine of life and listen to God.  The outdoors has always been a place where I am able to connect with God the best.  I love serving in a way that provides people the opportunity to do the same.
What is your favorite camp memory?
I love gathering at the pool or lake at the end of a week of camp for baptisms and seeing the lives that have been changed!
What is your favorite dessert?
Graeter’s Coconut Chip Ice Cream

Where are you involved at church?
I have been on staff at Parkside Christian Church as the Preschool Minister.  I mentor once a week at Mt Washington Elementary School and serve as a mentor mom for Mothers of Preschoolers. Our mentoring group meets as a missional community, I participate in a Lifegroup and Ladies Bible study.
What is your favorite Bible verse?
“He who sits on the throne will shelter [me] with His presence…For the Lamb at the center of the throne will be [my] shepherd; He will lead [me] to springs of living water.” (Revelation 7:15, 17)
What does camp ministry mean to you?
Coming to camp was a valuable experience growing up, making friends, having role models, memorizing Scripture for team points, playing softball and volleyball, campfires, singing and Bible dramas. As a teen I was on kitchen staff and I’ve been a dean and part of a team for a week of camp. Camp is a place like home to feel secure and gain confidence. I love being able to affirm children and help them grow into a personal faith.
What is your favorite camp memory?
Galilean service is a special end of the week time. A rowboat with a lighted cross brought the campfire speaker across the lake. We lit candles that floated out and it was quite a sight as we committed ourselves to follow Jesus. One year my dear friend was baptised.
What is your favorite dessert?
Peppermint Ice Cream
