About the Dean

Where are you involved at church?
I am the Associate Minister (Youth Minister) at the Western Hills Church of Christ.  I have been there for 32 years (my goal is to be the oldest youth minister ever, and I might be there already!)
What is your favorite Bible verse?
“And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.”  (Colossians 3:17)
And a second favorite, “Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for men.”  (Colossians 3:23)
What does camp ministry mean to you?
I love working with young people who come to camp.  I love getting away from electronics, social media, and modern conveniences, and getting back to the basics in God’s word as well.  Church camp is a wonderful opportunity to spend quality time with the young people, and to use that time to share with each person our wonderful Savior Jesus Christ.  Parents have entrusted us with their children, I want to use that time wisely leading the young people.
What is your favorite camp memory?
I have done this week of camp, Red River Wilderness, for 30 years.  I have so many wonderful memories.  I think I have worked with over 1000 kids over the years.  By far, my favorite part is getting to know each young person who comes to that week of camp.  We don’t take the easy road; I want the week to be challenging.  And that has stretched each person in wonderful ways.
What is your favorite dessert?
A favorite dessert would be “Campfire Cobbler”.  It is so easy to make over the campfire, and is really delicious!
